Last night was my very first SENIOR photo shoot! Quite a successful photo shoot it was too! We took some wonderful senior pictures in downtown League City and had a fun time. If my sons grow up to be as kind, modest, and hardworking as the handsome gentleman I worked with last night, I’ll be a happy mama!
This young man keeps busy with many extracurricular activities, but when he listed soccer as one of them I couldn’t help but smile. I thought it was pretty funny that I had a soccer playing senior for my first ever senior shoot since lately I’ve been thinking about my soccer playing days after each photo shoot. Who knew shooting photos would stir up the same emotions I would have on game days way, way back when I played soccer in high school.
Just like I would before games, before shoots I get really nervous and have to work hard to focus my mind. Pregame jitters are to be expected. It’s how my post shoot emotions mimic my post soccer game emotions that always amuses me. EVERY time I leave a shoot, I’m nervous about how the pictures are going to turn out. (They don’t always look as good on a computer as they do on the camera’s little screen!) Would you believe that I get a knot in my stomach every time I put my SD card into my computer!?!
The best part about the whole nervous soccer/photo thing is that I always think of my dad as I open my picture files and see all the beautiful photos I took. I hear him reminding me in our post game discussions of all the great things I’d done during the game. I hear him telling me to not be so hard on myself about those things I did wrong. I would learn from them and improve in the next game.
So, Dad, I’m not so hard on myself for the shots I missed or could have done better. I know it happens to all photographers and I’ll do better next time. I love thinking of you each time I see how well I really shot that day. Thanks for your support with soccer AND photography! Now, GO check out all these AWESOME photos we got!
