I have known this girl since I was five! I told my son that I have known S since I was his age and got a long “WHHHHOOOOOOOA!!!”. I didn’t want to ask how many years he thought that I have known her. My mom babysat her and her younger brother after school when we were in Elementary school until my family moved away when I was in middle school so all my fond childhood memories include her! We had so much fun exploring “the woods” behind my backyard, going to Peter Piper Pizza, coming up with dance routines to Alan Jackson in the driveway, having crazy sleep overs, going to summer camps and so on. She has some not so fond memories of me dragging her around like a baby doll and me biting her. Why she kept me as her friend, I have no idea! I sure am glad she did though! And I’m so proud of the woman she has become. She is Godly, a wonderful mother, kind, smart, driven…the list could go on.
I thought that I would see my friend more often when we moved back to Texas, but sadly the drive to San Antonio is still tough to find time to make. This past weekend after about three delayed visits due to work trips or illnesses I made it back to my hometown to meet the newest addition to my friend’s family. The timing actually worked out well since I was able to keep her company while her husband was at a church retreat AND we were able to take some six month pictures of her darling daughter. I think I’m going to have to print a few of these and put them in a frame in my guest room. Time to work on that giant shelf I want to go along the wall!
If you’re ever in San Antonio with little ones, check out the children’s doseum! We had a blast watching our little boys make memories like the ones we have together!
